The Lyric Opera of Chicago opened in 1929. It was designed by the architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White. It is a limestone 45-story skyscraper with two 22-story wings making it look like a throne. It is decorated in a mix of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. It is home to visiting opera and dance companies as well as operettas, musical shows, orchestral, dance and vocal concerts.
